The Artisans

Behind every object is a person, a practice, and a place.

The artisans Alaya works with are not suppliers. They are partners — makers whose craft we have come to know through direct relationship, whose communities we are committed to supporting, and whose work we are proud to bring into the homes, spaces, and projects of our clients.

Our current collection of maker partners spans ceramics, textiles, lighting, furniture, home objects, art, and photography — each chosen for the integrity of their craft, the depth of our relationship, and the quality of presence their work brings to any space.

Craft as cultural stewardship.

Artisan communities play a vital role in preserving the cultural heritage of the places they inhabit — through techniques passed down across generations, through materials sourced from the land, through objects that carry the knowledge and identity of a people.

When that craft is supported — when the artisan can sustain themselves and their community through their work — the culture lives. When it is not, something irreplaceable is lost.

Alaya's commitment to artisan partnership is a commitment to that continuity. We trace every piece from concept to completion. We build relationships, not vendor lists. We pay fairly, source transparently, and return to the same makers again and again — deepening the partnership with each project.

Local wherever we are.

Our current maker relationships are rooted primarily in the Americas — North, Central, and South — reflecting the communities where Alaya's design and experience work is most active today. As we expand into new geographies, we build new artisan relationships within them, ensuring that every project and every place is served by makers who belong to it.

This is not a sourcing strategy. It is a practice of conscious co-creation — one that keeps economic benefit local, honors the cultural knowledge embedded in regional craft, and ensures that the objects in our collection are genuinely of the places they come from.

If you are a maker whose work aligns with Alaya's principles

— we would love to hear from you.

We are always in the process of building new artisan relationships — particularly in regions where Alaya is growing. If your craft, your community, and your values feel aligned with what we are building, we warmly invite you to reach out.
